Creating a Works Cited Page

Rules to Follow: 

  • Follow the punctuation of the examples exactly. If you cannot find some information, such as author or place of publication, just leave it out.
  • Arrange all sources in one list, alphabetically by first word, which will generally be either the author's last name or the first important word of the title (ignore A, An, The as the first word in the title.)

When Citing A Book:

Author’s last name, Author’s first name. Title of book (italicized). Place of publication: Publisher, date of publication.

When Citing A Website:

Author, if known. “Title of the article.” Title of Website. Web. Date you used the website.

“Testing.” World Book Student. Web. 15 April 2010.

Hamilton, Calvin J. “The Solar System.” Views of the Solar System. Web. 4 May 2017.
