What's new in Computer Class

Starting in September, 2014:
  • Elementary computer teachers became "Technology Coaches". Instead of splitting their time instructing BSI Math, they now have scheduled coaching "blocks" to help teachers and students with technology in their classrooms.
  • For the first time, third and fourth graders were given individual, unique usernames and passwords to log into their own Google Accounts. They are learning how to use Google Drive docs, presentations and spreadsheets. Their grade levels were also given chrome books for them to work on in preparation for the upcoming Parcc tests.
  • Kindergarten was added to the computer curriculum. Just like first-fourth grades, they come to the computer lab once a week for formal instruction.
 Starting in March, 2015:
  • Second grade students were given individual, unique usernames and passwords to log into their own Google Accounts.  This will help them get a jump on things for next year.
 Starting in September, 2015:
  • Third and fourth grade classrooms were given additional chrome books and chrome book carts.
  • Over the summer, technology coaches worked on writing a new Educational Technology Curriculum to be implemented in the 2015-16 school year.
